The Top VR Headsets

The best VR headsets: Top Virtual Reality Glasses to Buy Online

For those that don’t know, Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of computer technology to create a simulated 3D environment. A VR headset is the device that you wear over your eyes like a pair of goggles to achieve this environment.

As virtual reality moves into the mainstream spotlight our interaction with the digital realm improves and as VR technology gets better, VR is becoming far more immersive. Similarly to 3D glasses, VR has been talked about for many years, but recently, the technology has broken through some of the major barriers. 2016 was a break through year with the release of Facebook owned Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Sony’s very own Playstation VR.

With the growing accesibility to own your own pair of VR glasses, it begins to beg the question; which VR headset is right for you?

The absolute simplest form of virtual reality is made out of nothing but a pair of plastic magnifying lenses and a sheet of cardboard, using a standard smartphone as a screen.

Cardboard VR Headset

The cardboard VR headsets offer limited interactivity in comparison to other types of VR head-sets. They are most suited for watching 360-degree videos. They do have limitations though; they are not meant to be used for long periods of time and they do not have a head strap so have to be placed over your eyes using your hands which can get tiresome.

On the other end of the spectrum, there are also high-end VR Headsets available.

VR Oculus Rift

These top VR headsets offer sophisticated features like motion tracking, high-resolution screens, and the highest quality resolution graphics.  The main difference is that these high quality VR headsets cannot be powered by a smart phone. The Oculus Rift,  HTC’s Vive, and Sony PlayStation VR all run from external computers or game consoles. As one would expect these VR headsets come with a hefty price tag.

The spending doesn’t stop there. As mentioned above the high-end virtual-reality goggles aren’t powered using a cell phone.

This still does not answer the question which are best VR headsets and which one should you go and buy? It can be tough to choose which one is the best on the market – a decision that becomes even harder when you look at each of their prices. That’s why we’ve split this down in to three different price sections from low-end to high-end we wanted to narrow this down to be a list of the best VR headsets for everyone, not just you VR gamers!
